The Role
In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable backend systems. You will leverage the latest features of Node.js (including ES modules and new built-in APIs) to write clean, efficient code. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define features and ensure technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead Architecture: Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performance Node.js applications and microservices using Node.js 20+.
- Code Optimization: Optimize application performance, reduce latency, and improve throughput for high-traffic systems.
- Tech Stack Mastery: Utilize modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and frameworks like Express or NestJS to build RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Database Management: Design and manage relational and non-relational database schemas (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB) ensuring data integrity and efficient querying.
- Collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Designers, and Frontend Engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Best Practices: Enforce code quality standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior developers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Integrate CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and deploy applications to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend development using Node.js.
- Language: Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and Node.js core modules.
- Frameworks: Solid experience with at least one major Node.js framework (Express, NestJS, Fastify).
- Database: Strong experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) databases.
- DevOps: Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Testing: Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Supertest) and TDD/BDD methodologies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
