Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for optimization, simulation, and machine learning applications
- Lead research on quantum error correction techniques to achieve fault-tolerant quantum computing
- Develop hybrid quantum-classical frameworks for near-term quantum advantage
- Collaborate with hardware teams to optimize quantum circuits for specific qubit architectures
- Publish peer-reviewed research and present findings at top-tier conferences (QIP, APS March Meeting)
- Secure external funding through NSF, DOE, and industry grants
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to technical documentation
Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 3+ years quantum research experience
- Expertise in quantum programming languages (Q#, Qiskit, Cirq) and quantum circuit design
- Strong publication record in quantum information science or high-performance computing
- Proficiency in classical HPC frameworks (HPC, MPI, GPU acceleration)
- Experience with quantum hardware platforms (IBM Quantum, Rigetti, IonQ)
- Demonstrated ability to secure competitive research funding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
