This hybrid role combines strategic policy development with hands-on model auditing in our Austin Innovation Hub. You'll report directly to the Chief Trust Officer and collaborate with AI researchers, product teams, and legal experts to embed ethical safeguards into our core technology stack. Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI ethics governance frameworks for autonomous systems and generative models
- Conduct algorithmic bias audits using advanced fairness metrics and explainability tools
- Develop compliance protocols for emerging state/federal AI regulations (e.g., proposed 2026 federal AI Act)
- Lead cross-functional ethics reviews for high-stakes AI deployments in healthcare and finance
- Create audit trails for model training data and decision-making transparency
- Train engineers on ethical AI development practices and bias mitigation techniques
- Represent company at industry ethics coalitions and regulatory working groups
Qualifications
- PhD in Ethics, Computer Science, Law, or related field with 5+ years AI governance experience
- Deep understanding of technical AI fairness metrics (e.g., disparate impact, demographic parity)
- Expertise in emerging AI regulations (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, proposed US federal frameworks)
- Proven track record of implementing ethics-by-design in production AI systems
- Strong programming skills in Python for auditing tools development
- Certification in AI Ethics (e.g., IEEE Ethically Aligned Design) preferred
- Experience with healthcare/finance AI compliance requirements
