Responsibilities
- Code Maintenance & Optimization: Review, debug, and optimize legacy codebases to ensure system stability and performance during high-traffic periods.
- Feature Implementation: Develop and deploy small-scale features and bug fixes under tight weekend deadlines.
- System Monitoring: Proactively monitor server logs and application performance to prevent downtime and resolve issues immediately.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the full-time engineering team via Slack and documentation to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for all weekend maintenance activities and code changes.
- Security Audits: Assist in identifying potential vulnerabilities and implementing security patches over the weekend.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of professional software development experience in JavaScript, Python, or Java.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotating or fixed schedule.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Git, and modern cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of tasks.
